A CARJACKER who stole a Mazda before driving it dangerously on a major Bournemouth road has admitted 10 charges against him.

Shaun Lee, of Owls Road in Boscombe, appeared at Bournemouth Crown Court yesterday morning via a video link from HMP Winchester, where he is currently incarcerated.

An indictment relating to offences committed on March 22 and 23 was then read to him.

Lee, who wore dark-coloured glasses, entered guilty pleas to all the charges.

As reported in the Echo, armed police sealed off the Richmond Gardens multi-storey car park on Wednesday, May 22 following reports of a car jacking.

Sally Anstee told officers she had pulled over to the side of Keswick Road in Boscombe at 1.30pm in her Mazda MX5 when she was approached by a man with a knife.

He then threatened her and told her to get out of the car, it was alleged. Police sealed off the car park as part of their investigations.

However, around two hours later, police were called away from the car park after the Mazda was driven dangerously on roads including the A338 Wessex Way.

It was alleged that the vehicle had then been involved in a collision with a black Ford Fiesta in Poole Road near the County Gates Roundabout at 3.11pm.

The driver of the Fiesta was treated by paramedics.

Police closed the Wessex Way in both directions between the Princess Road junction and the Bournemouth West Roundabout for two hours as part of their investigations.

Lee has now admitted robbery, possessing a kitchen knife in Keswick Road, dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, threatening two police officers with a knife in Pine Tree Glen, Bournemouth, affray and failing to provide a specimen.

He also admitted two counts of theft relating to £80 taken from Wilko and £180 from Iceland in Poole Road, Westbourne.

The defendant, who is 42, will return to Bournemouth Crown Court to be sentenced on Friday, July 7.

The sentence is expected to take an hour and a quarter.
