A MOTORCYCLIST who pulled a wheelie on the wrong side of the road and a taxi driver caught speeding were just two of the motorists dealt with by Dorset Police in less than a week.

Officers from the No Excuses team have faced a range of bad driving so far this June.

On Thursday, June 8, officers from the team caught a taxi driver speeding at 47 miles per hour in Castle Lane West, which has a 30mph limit.

Police issued the driver with a fine of £100 and three points on his licence.

Another motorist was recorded travelling at 49mph on the same stretch.

On Saturday, June 10, a driver who was stopped for using a phone at the wheel told officers he didn’t have his driving licence - because “the court took it”.

Officers allege the driver, who was pulled over in Bournemouth, is banned from the roads until October this year.

As a result, he also had no insurance on the vehicle.

An officer from the team claimed: “The registered keeper was in the passenger seat, the driver having lied about his licence to his friend.

“The driver was interviewed in relation to all offences and will be attending court.”

On the same day, the driver of a Vauxhall Corsa was pulled over in Boscombe.

The driver allegedly admitted only having a provisional licence, as well as no insurance, MOT or tax.

The vehicle was seized and the driver was charged with driving offences.

A young driver found his licence revoked just 20 months after earning it on Monday, June 12 after he was stopped for speeding in Canford Heath.

He was caught travelling at 43mph in a 30mph limit.

The following day, a motorcycle rider who pulled a wheelie for 100 yards on the wrong side of the road as he overtook other vehicles was stopped.

The rider, who was travelling between Bournemouth and Boscombe as part of a group of motorcyclists, had failed to realise an unmarked police car was on the road behind him.

A No Excuses spokesperson said: “When stopped, the middle-aged rider was very apologetic.

“He couldn’t explain his thought process - a costly mistake.”

A short time later, a vehicle was seen on the wrong side of the road. The driver allegedly admitted having two glasses of wine and was arrested.

Police allege she gave a reading of 46 and 49 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35mg.

On the same day, police who turned their car around to follow a silver Volkswagen Passat saw it make off at speed.

The vehicle was then involved in a collision and the driver was seen running off. Officers are investigating.
