ARMED police were called to deal with a man brandishing a samurai sword in Ferndown Tesco.
The force was alerted at 2pm on Wednesday to reports of a man "walking around" with the weapon in the superstore in Penny Walk.
He was not reported to have threatened anyone.
Officers found the man nearby in Ringwood Road, and nobody was injured during the incident.
A 19-year-old Ferndown man has been arrested in relation to this incident and is currently helping officers with their enquiries.
