TODAY my dog and I enjoyed a lovely walk in the sunshine from our home in Pokesdown to the dog-friendly beach at Fisherman’s Walk, marvelling as always at how lucky we are to live in this beautiful part of the world, with such a stunning coastline on our doorstep.

As a responsible dog owner, I accept the summertime ban on some parts of the beach, and we are just glad that some areas are still open to us.

I was then horrified to see, in broad daylight, a man in his sixties or seventies standing on the beach urinating into the sea by the groyne.

The nearest toilets were a mere 100 yards away (and, this being Bournemouth, they were open!).

I asked him why he couldn’t use the toilets (he was strolling about the beach by this time, so clearly mobility wasn’t an issue) – he totally ignored me, which was hardly surprising, given his total lack of common decency.

Let’s hope, if he makes a habit of this, the beach police will turn their attention to him.
