Lucy Culkin, business development manager at YMCA Bournemouth, said: “We’re all looking forward to a fun-filled day.

“There are free activities for all the family on the beach from 11am including circuits, Zumba, dance fitness, yoga and clubbercise. The idea is that we get everyone out and active to promote health and wellbeing in the community.”

There will be races with medals and goody-bags for all participants from 5pm. The children’s races - 1k and 2k - will the first to begin and the adults’ five mile race which includes Southbourne’s Zig Zag challenge starts at 6pm.

At 9.30pm, the 5k and 10k Bright for Sight Night Run races take place.

Entry fees start from £5 for children and £12 for adults.
