A MAN suffered a broken jaw and broken tooth after being attacked in the smoking area of a Westbourne bar.

Police have now appealed for witnesses to the unprovoked assault, which took place at the Dancing Duck in Poole Road in the early hours of Sunday June 4.

Police were called to the scene at 12.20am following the attack on the Poole man, in his 30s.

The offender is described as white, around 29-years-old, six feet tall and of athletic build with short blond hair. He was wearing a light grey or cream-coloured top.

Detective Constable Garry Weston, of Bournemouth CID, said: "This was an unprovoked attack which resulted in the victim sustaining a serious injury.

"I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to please contact Dorset Police. I would also like to speak to anyone who knows who is responsible for the assault."

It comes after police were called to reports of a "large fight" earlier this year.
