CCTV footage has been released of a man wanted in connection with an attempted robbery.

Police were called to Tesco Express at Wimborne Road around 11pm on Wednesday, May 10.

A man had queued for the checkout and then asked to buy some Rizla cigarette rolling papers before grabbing at the open till.

But he was pulled away by a member of staff and another customer before fleeing the scene.

Nothing was stolen but the till was damaged during the incident.

The suspect is described as white, aged in his 30s, 5ft9 and of medium build. He had short dark brown hair with a receding hairline, small beard and stubble. He was wearing a dark green hooded jacket of an anorak material with the hood up.

Police Constable Lucy Hale, of Bournemouth police, said: “As part of my investigation I am now in a position to issue a CCTV image of the suspect.

“I would urge anyone who recognises this man to please contact Dorset Police.”
