BROADWAY and West End star, Earl Carpenter, is bringing his one man show to Bournemouth this weekend to help raise funds for the Shelley Theatre.

The performer who is best known for playing Inspector Javert in Les Misérables, will perform for two nights on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10.

Nina Dunne, trustee of Shelley Theatre said: “Having Earl at the theatre is a real coup. All proceeds from the concert will go towards the purchase of a lifesaving defibrillator to be based at the theatre and also new lighting equipment. We cannot wait.”

The show gives a nod to his early years in and around the south coast and milestones from 25 years within the musical theatre industry. Accompanying Earl, will be a pianist and guest singer Lisa-Anne Wood.

Both evenings will consist of songs performed from the shows Earl has been involved with over the years such as Sunset Boulevard, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Witches of Eastwick, The Secret Garden and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera, a title role he’s played over 1,300 times in London’s West End and around the UK.

Earl said he was looking forward to visiting Bournemouth. “I don’t get much time to perform back at home. My mum is from Dorset, so gives her a chance to travel not too far and we can spend some time together.”

He added: “Performing in such a historic venue, that is Shelley Theatre, is going to be special.

“It is an intimate venue and giving the audience opportunity to ask questions, just makes everything a lot more interactive.”
