'EXTREMELY cramped' plans to build an infill development of three houses in Bournemouth have been rejected.

Town planning officers made the criticism of the plans for 88 Strouden Road in their report, and there were also 14 objections submitted.

The site, accessed via a narrow lane, currently hosts a house and warehouse.

Ward councillor Simon Bull was among those opposing the scheme, which he called "overbearing" and criticised for a lack of parking, calling it in for discussion by councillors.

Ultimately officers refused the scheme under delegated powers.

Their report expressed "concern" over the potential living conditions for future occupants, particularly bedrooms with "obscured glazed windows" and "limited useable space".

It said: "It is considered that the proposed development, by reason of the siting, height, scale, design and bulk of the proposed dwellings, would result in a cramped and congested form of development."
