FOUR-LEGGED friends of all shapes and sizes got together for their social event of the year at Highcliffe Castle.

Tails were wagging at an alarming rate as they joined thousands of people at the second annual PetFest event.

And this year they were joined by a few other creatures, ranging from donkeys and ducks to pigs and birds of prey.

The dog show had numerous classes including Scruffiest Dog, Cutest Pup and Biggest Dog.

And Giant Schnauzer, Ted, won the biggest dog award.

Proud owner Nakita Baskerville from Ashley Heath said Ted, who is not yet two-years-old was having a "great time" at the event.

Ted was closely followed by Bull Mastiff Bruno in second place and Labrador/Akita Storm in third.

Representatives from Longdown Dairy Farm were popular with the crowds, who queued to meet goats, pigs, chickens, geese and tiny chicks.

A stroll around the event revealed more than 40 stalls with a huge range of items for sale.

It was an animal lover's paradise, with all manner of gifts for pets including clothing, bedding and even the opportunity to book them in for a salon and spa treatment.

And little Reggie, an 11-week-old French Bulldog, appeared to be enjoying one of his first outings into the big wide world.

Organiser Kathryne Ellinger, an events assistant at Highcliffe Castle, said: "The event was held for the first time last year and was a lot more popular than anyone had imagined it would be.

"This year there are even more things to do, including face painting and candy floss for the children. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves and it's been lovely and sunny which has really helped."
