A YOUNG woman was seriously injured when a Subaru overturned on the Blandford Road near Badbury Rings.

The 22-year-old, who was the front seat passenger of the red Impreza, was injured when the car was involved in a collision with a silver Mitsubishi ASX being driven by a 77-year-old man from the Blandford area.

The driver of the Mitsubishi and a front seat passenger sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Subaru, a 21-year-old man also from the Blandford area, also suffered minor injuries.

Police officers, firefighters and paramedics were called to the stretch at 6.10pm.

PC Charlotte Harvey of Dorset Police said: "The air ambulance was called, but the casualty was taken to hospital by road ambulance."

The Subaru was being driven towards Wimborne. The Mitsubishi was travelling towards Blandford.

The road was closed for around two hours to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

Officers investigating the crash are calling for the driver of a white van, who slowed in the moments after the collision, to come forward.
