A NEW ‘escape room’ attraction has been granted permission to open in Bournemouth.
Escape Rooms Quest! can open at 86a Charminster Avenue, currently in use as a laundrette, despite reservations expressed by planning officers.
In a report, officer Tom Hubbard said: “The existing use does provide a local service/function for the community in a way that the proposed leisure use would not. However, it is not a particularly long standing use, having been approved in 2010. It is still in operation and not vacant.
“There is a slight concern about the loss of this facility, but equally it could close on its own without any consent and is not otherwise protected.”
Officers granted permission under delegated powers. It follows the opening of the MacGuffin Project, another escape room, in former Dusk till Dawn nightclub in Old Christchurch Road.
