Poole RNLI were launched yesterday afternoon after a motorboat ran aground.
The Atlantic Lifeboat was called at 3.37pm where a vessel was stuck at the entrance to the River Frome.
They'd encountered a squally shower and, with visibility reduced, drifted out of the channel.
Atlantic then requested help from the station D class, launched at 3.59pm.
All four members aboard the vessel were transported to the Atlantic.
Crew member Neil Ceconi said: "It was unfortunate that the squall came through and visibility reduced at a crucial time in a narrow channel.
"The skipper did the right thing to call for assistance and everybody was wearing lifejackets in case the situation became much worse."
