RYAN Fraser's hopes of making his international bow in Scotland's iconic Auld Enemy clash with England remain alive after he was included in Gordon Strachan's trimmed down 24-man squad.

Fraser had been poised to win his first Tartan Army cap when he was called up in March for matches against Canada and Slovenia.

But the Cherries winger was stricken by injury soon after linking up with Strachan's party and forced to return to Vitality Stadium without featuring in either game.

Scotland, in fourth, are six points adrift of England at the top of World Cup qualifying Group F. Gareth Southgate's Three Lions recorded a facile 3-0 victory when the teams met in the reverse fixture at Wembley back in November.

Nevertheless, the Scots will take on England at Hampden Park on June 10 buoyed by their 1-0 win over Slovenia last time out and knowing victory could see them climb into second spot.

Fraser started 19 Premier League matches and scored three goals last season, although his involvement during the campaign's closing months was restricted by an Achilles injury.

The 23-year-old is joined in the Tartan Army squad by former Aberdeen team-mate Mark Reynolds and fellow widemen, James Forrest of Celtic and West Ham's Robert Snodgrass.

Strachan's assistant, Mark McGhee, was in charge at Aberdeen when Fraser made his professional debut aged 16.
