EMERGENCY services were called to a single-vehicle crash on the A350 near Poole fire station.
The collision took place around 1.15pm on the eastbound carriageway of the A350 near the junction with the A3049 and Holes Bay.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire Service said a member of the public ran from the scene of the crash to the fire station at the junction to ask for help.
Both fire crews from Poole attended the crash where one male was medically trapped in the vehicle. Crews removed the roof to release him.
"The casualty was then placed in the car of the ambulance service and taken to hospital," said the spokesman.
One lane of the A350 was blocked while emergency services dealt with the incident.
The vehicle was recovered and the lane re-opened around 3pm, but there was still heavy traffic in the area.
