‘HE was the biggest fighter ever known and a fighter until the end.’

Those are the moving words of loved ones grieving the loss of ‘hero’ Royal Marine Will Tindle who has died after a battle with cancer.

His family said he passed away peacefully in hospital last Thursday ‘following a serious and devastating illness that he fought bravely.’

The 25-year-old was a serving landing craft operator in the Royal Marines, based in Poole, and will be given a funeral with full military honours.

Will leaves behind his grandparents Alan and Mary Newman, his sister Lucinda and girlfriend Jasmine.

Jasmine had launched a fundraising appeal weeks ago appealing for help to fund alternative care after medics said there was nothing more that could be done after his spinal cancer spread to his brain. In just 15 days, 387 people helped to raise £9,430.

The Royal Marines led the tributes. A statement read: “Everyone in the Royal Marines is very sad to hear of the death so young of Marine Will Tindle. He was a highly professional marine who loved his career as a landing craft operator. He fought a battle with cancer that has taken him from us far too early. All our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.”

His friend Elliott Bacon, who grew up with Will, said: “He was a true loyal mate who was always there for me. He was the biggest fighter I have ever known and a fighter until the end.”

Friend Thomas Kley said: “We have lost a legend and a hero in my eyes and in many others.

“Mate it has been a pleasure and an honour knowing you and calling you a best mate. You will be truly missed.”

Tom Leigh said: “Once again we raise the glass. From ignorant days at school to serving alongside you, always fond memories. Rest in peace, Royal.”

Jay Gulbins said: “They say everything happens for a reason but can you explain those reasons? Will Tindle you were our hero.”

S’troma Jamesina said: “You will forever be missed and loved. Thoughts are with everyone who had the pleasure of having you in their lives.”

Donations can be made to the Royal Marines Association and the Brain and Spine Foundation.
