A LATE night car crash ended with a vehicle destroying part of a Chinese takeaway.

The collision, which happened at around 12.15am on Tuesday morning, saw extensive damage caused to Lee's Dynasty on Wimborne Road in Winton - close to Wilko and the British Heart Foundation store.

Two vehicles - a silver Mercedes A160, registered to a man in Poole, and a silver Vauxhall Astra, registered to a man from London - were involved in the crash.

One lane was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Though no-one involved in the collision sustained any injuries, a woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Firefighters from Redhill were also called to help paramedics with two suspected two casualties.

They were also tasked with removing the vehicle from the building along with the council's building control officer.

Springbourne volunteers from the British Red Cross also attended to help at the scene.

Fuel on the road meant that the local authority was called.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

The Daily Echo has yet been unable to reach the takeaway's owners.

In April last year a car crashed into Li's - also a Chinese takeaway on Wimborne Road - in Northbourne.

Staff living above the shop were awoken with a loud bang when the Audi A6 crashed into the shop frontage, removing the large windows.

Volunteers from the British Red Cross cared for the restaurant owner's family who were woken by the crash.

Luke Lee said he, his twin boys, 13, and his wife had to leave their home for three hours while the building was assessed for damage. None of them were injured.

He said the business will still be providing deliveries but customers will not be able to enter the shop.
