1. Scottish rock band Simple Minds will perform at Lighthouse, Poole on Friday June 2 at 7.30pm. The tour celebrates the release of their new album spanning collection of songs acoustically for the very first time and will be joined by special guest The Anchoress.

2. Cargo is a unique exhibition that brings Poole's maritime heritage to life and opens this week for a four week run at Lighthouse, Poole. A feature performance and talk with the artists will launch the exhibition on Wednesday, May 25. Free entry. Visit lighthousepoole.co.uk

3. The Foghorn Stringband has been described as the present day gold standard for American Stringband music and will be heading to Dorset next weekend courtesy of Artsreach. 4. Joseph and The Amazing Coloured Dreamcoat at the Regent in Christchurch opens on May 25 until May 27. See regentcentre.co.uk.

5. David Walliams’ smash hit Gangsta Granny visits Lighthouse, Poole from May 24 to May 28 and stars a local drama student.

6. Fans of dance and also of the hit TV show, The Next Step will love “Live on Stage”, a brand new live show that celebrates dance in a concert-like setting at the BIC on May 30. Tickets start at £30. See bic.co.uk or call 01202 055555.

7. Dinosaur opens at Mayflower.

8. Five of Washington Green Fine Art’s most popular artists will be featured at the Westover Gallery in Bournemouth from Saturday, May 27 to Sunday, June 11. Each artist aims to capture real life moments.

9. Folk fans will be flocking to the Fairport Convention’s golden anniversary concert at the Tivoli in Wimborne on May 26. There's still time to book tickets, see tivoliwimborne.co.uk.
