AN INDOOR market has shut three months after the electricity supply was cut off by the power company.

Zervo Flexi Village in Boscombe's Sovereign Centre reportedly owes E.ON around £90,000.

Business owners used a generator to keep doors open after bailiffs turned off the supply on Monday, February 6.

However, this week the shutters have been pulled down at the market and an A4 page has been taped to a window with the message 'shop temporarily closed'.

The Daily Echo has tried to contact the firm for comment but has not had any response.

Zervo Flexi Village opened in the former TJ Hughes unit adjacent to the Sovereign Shopping Centre in 2015.

Originally it was granted only a short-term lease, and it was welcomed in Boscombe where the 45,000 square foot store had been empty since 2011.

After the electricity supply was cut off earlier this year the store remained closed for almost a week, but it had reopened by Saturday, February 11.

The owners were able to gain a temporary licence for a generator at the site.

Since then the generator, which is located on the pedestrian precinct outside the market, has been used to power the retail unit.

It operates as a concession style department store which allows traders to rent a space within the store and sell their own goods, with prices starting at £129.

The unit, along with the centre, are owned by New River Retail which in 2014 announced plans to revamp the block and attract a range of new stores, albeit pitched at the local market.

The plans could include some community use development within the centre, based on New River's projects elsewhere.

The large unit is still listed as 'under offer' on the New River website.
