A POPULAR pub is to raffle some unique mementos as it prepares to call time for good.
The Sir Percy Florence Shelley is set to close on Sunday, May 14, after pub company JD Wetherspoon sold it off.
But staff will be raffling a selection of the old photographs which adorn the wall of the pub.
Proceeds will go to Wetherspoon’s chosen cause Clic Sargent, which supports children and young people with cancer.
Photos show the Carlton Cinema, whose foyer was where the pub now stands, as well as old street scenes of Christchurch Road. There are also portraits of Sir Percy Florence Shelley himself, who lived at the nearby Shelley Manor.
Manager Vikki Ensbury said of the pictures: “They’re all to do with the local area and Percy Florence Shelley himself.
“Most of them are pictures of the area from a long time ago.”
The Sir Percy Florence Shelley was one of 45 pubs put on the market last year. it has been bought by Bournemouth-based Culverdene Properties Ltd. Staff will remain with the company.
