ONE of Bournemouth's best-known venues is due to shut.

Bosses at the Winchester in Poole Hill, which hosts evenings dedicated to art, theatre, street dance and live music, are battling to keep the bar open.

Manager Louise Keeley has launched an online petition to save the venue.

More than 3,200 people have signed it.

"The Winchester has been at the heart of providing Bournemouth with its creative and music spirit and home for nearly a decade," she said.

"Unfortunately due to development of the area, we have lost the space to be able to continue doing this."

She urged Bournemouth residents to sign the petition so it can be presented to Bournemouth council.

"We need your help and support so we can show that Bournemouth needs a place like the Winchester," she said.
