ORGANISERS of the Bournemouth 7s Festival, which marks its tenth anniversary this year, have reported the fastest ticket sales in the history of the event.

Some 30,000 people are expected to pack out the Daily Echo-backed sport and music extravaganza over the late May bank holiday weekend.

Festival marketing manager Lucy Darrall told the Echo: "Ticket sales for all teams, VIP glamping and camping are selling out in record time.

"We are very excited about the tenth anniversary and expect that this year will be the biggest and best festival to date."

DJ MistaJam will be headlining the event, along with Artful Dodger and Brandon Block.

Some 400 rugby, netball, hockey and dodgeball teams will be competing throughout the festival - which has grown to be a favourite on the sporting and music calendar in the south.

Rugby stars who have shown their support in previous years include England Rugby Union captains Will Carling and Lewis Moody.

Bournemouth 7s managing director Craig Mathie said: "This year's festival has a really special buzz, which is different to anything I have seen in the previous six years that I have been with Bournemouth 7s.

"I cannot wait to experience the tenth anniversary atmosphere and I know that all this hard work will seem more than worth it when the weekend comes around."

The three-day festival takes place at Bournemouth Sports Club, Chapel Gate, East Parley, from May 26.

It includes twelve arenas with 40 live acts and DJs, a cocktail garden, garage tent, a German beer tent, the main arena and the sports zone.

Sixteen teams will be competing for the Bournemouth 7s Festival crown and the £2,000 first prize.
