THE Daily Echo, along with regional titles across the UK, is holding an interactive Trusted News Day today as part of the ongoing fight against fake news.

We will be hosting Q&A sessions on Twitter and our website throughout the day as part of the Fighting Fake News campaign.

Daily Echo readers have the opportunity to ask our editorial team questions about any aspect of the newspaper and our website, and find out more about how the newsroom operates.

Here at the Echo our journalists have worked tirelessly on a wide range of local campaigns on behalf of our readers.

Meanwhile, unregulated social media sites where there are no embedded checks against fake news, are being exploited by those with hidden agendas.

Daily Echo Editor Andy Martin said: "The Daily Echo is a great example of a local paper that not only covers the news, but also investigates and campaigns on the things that matter to the communities we serve."
