POLICE were called to a bomb scare at Castlepoint this morning.
A ‘suspicious item’, believed to be ordnance, was discovered outside B&Q shortly after 9.30am.
However, police say the item isn’t an explosive.
The DIY store was evacuated while investigations took place.
A spokesperson from Dorset Police said: “The force received a report at 9.31am this morning of a suspicious item outside B&Q at Castlepoint Shopping Park in Castle Lane West, Bournemouth.
“Officers attended and the building was evacuated as a precaution.
“The item, which was believed to be an ordnance object, has been located and found to be non-suspicious. It has now been removed from the area.
“B&Q reopened at around 10am. The rest of the shopping centre remained open during the incident.”
A spokesperson from B&Q said: “We can confirm that our Bournemouth store was temporarily closed this morning as a precaution.
"We worked with local police to ensure the area was safe for our customers to return and the store has since reopened.”
