AN 84-YEAR-OLD woman who died a month after suffering serious injuries in a head-on collision has been named as Gwendoline May Jordan from Trowbridge in Wiltshire.

Mrs Jordan, a retired machinist, died of the delayed effects of multiple injuries, a Bournemouth inquest heard.

Dorset Coroner Rachael Griffin heard she died in hospital in Bath on April 11 following the crash, which took place at Badbury Rings on Sunday March 12.

She was a rear passenger in a silver Toyota Corolla which collided with a blue Ford Focus on the B3082 at the junction leading to Sturminster Marshall at 10.30am.

The Toyota was travelling from Wimborne to Blandford at the time of the crash. The 85-year-old male driver of the Toyota and a 64-year-old female passenger both suffered slight injuries.

The three occupants of the Ford Focus, a 75-year-old male driver, a 72-year-old woman and an 89-year-old man, are all from the Blandford area and were taken to Poole hospital with slight injuries following the accident.

The inquest was opened and adjourned until August 14 for a pre-inquest review.
