The 18th Christchurch Food Festival takes place this weekend. Opening at 10am on both days, the street market will spread throughout the town centre and down to Christchurch Quay, with more than 100 stalls offering delicious treats. For the first time they will be operating a so-called Park and Stride car park.

The 12th annual Swanage Railway diesel gala and beer festival runs from Friday to Sunday. There'll be two firsts this year – the most diesel locomotives to attend the event, and the first appearance of a green-liveried Class 47 at Swanage and Corfe Castle since the summer of 1966.
The beer festival will be taking place next to Corfe Castle station's restored Victorian goods shed. Beers will include the Swanage Railway's 'Old Pusher'.

The Gin Festival returns to Bournemouth this weekend. More than 100 gins, top craft distillers and a whole world of 'ginformation' will be heading to the town's Pavilion Ballroom from May 5 to 7. 

Take part in a Lego competition at Rossmore Library on Saturday. It takes place from 11am to 12noon. Competitors need to use their building skills to make the best Lego model.

The Friends of Hamworthy Park are hosting a jumble sale to raise funds to resurface the paddling pool in the park. The sale takes place from 2pm on Saturday at St Michael’s Church Hall in Blandford Road, Hamworthy.

St John’s Church in Macaulay Road, Broadstone, is holding its annual plant sale on Saturday from 10am to 12 noon. Many varieties of plant will be on sale so come along to enjoy a coffee or tea, slice of cake and a chat in a garden atmosphere.
