PLANS to bulldoze a house and replace it with 10 new properties have been shelved after a storm of protest.

A J Developments has withdrawn an application relating to a half-hectare site at Pennington Common, near Lymington, in the face of opposition from the town, district and county councils.

The proposal for the infill development, branded ‘garden grabbing’ by opponents, had also sparked objections from four locals worried about extra traffic, loss of privacy and other issues.

A J had argued that the new homes would make a positive contribution to the neighbourhood but town councillors criticised the scheme and the district council also cited concerns about 10 properties being built on a sensitive site near the New Forest National Park.
