Inspired by Sunday’s London Marathon and Southampton Marathon?

Here’s everything you need to know about entering the Bournemouth race - the main event in the Bournemouth Marathon Festival.

Standard entry is £53 with standard club entry priced £51.

What time is the race?

The marathon starts at 10am.

Can anyone enter?

You must be aged 18 and over to enter the marathon.

What’s the route?

You’ll be spoilt for spectacular views. Starting at Kings Park and ending at Bournemouth Pier, runners will make their way down to the seafront, taking in coastal views along the way.

By mile nine you’ll be at Hengistbury Head, at mile 12 you’ll pass Boscombe Pier before making your way past the Russell Cotes Museum at mile 14. Then at mile 16 you’ll pass Bournemouth Pier, run past the Lower Gardens before heading towards Poole Harbour.

What do I get for entering?

All those who finish will get a T-shirt, accurate chip timing, finisher’s medal, race recovery pack and keyring.

How do I get to Kings Park?

Runners and spectators can purchase a BMF bus ticket which will transport you to and from the start and finish areas.

Morebus and Yellow buses will also operate local bus services close to the start area.

If you’re from out of town, the closest train station is Bournemouth

Don't fancy the marathon?

You can take your pick from the half marathon, Supersonic 10k or Supernova 5k.

The Bournemouth Marathon Festival is a two-day event, with races for adults and children taking place on Saturday, October 7 and Sunday, October 8. 

The half marathon is taking place on Sunday, October 8 and starts at 8am. Standard entry costs £33 and standard club entry costs £31.

The route is similar to the marathon but doesn’t take in Poole Harbour with runners heading towards Hengistbury Head before making their way along the seafront and finishing at Bournemouth Pier.

The Supersonic 10k takes place at 4pm on Saturday, October 7 with entry costing £27 (standard) and £25 for standard club entry.

The Supernova 5k will see runners light up the night on Saturday, October 7. Runners are encouraged to dress in flourescent clothing and grab everything and anything that glows or flashes for the race which starts at 7pm. Standard entry is £16.50 and standard club entry is £14.50. 

And don’t forget about the kids…

There are also races for the kids with a junior 5k and kids’ kilometre which are new for this year. Plus there’s a junior 2k and junior 1.5k.
