A WORLD War Two veteran has celebrated his milestone 100th birthday.
Robert Rigler was joined by 50 friends and family in the afternoon, after staff and residents gathered at Care South's Dorset House care home, Hamworthy, Poole, in the morning to kick start the celebrations.
Robert, who celebrated his big day earlier this month, is the last surviving of 20 children.
Rigler Road in Poole is named after his dad.
In 2015 he received the prestigious Legion d'Honneur from the French government, for his actions to free France from the German occupation after D-Day.
On his birthday celebrations, Robert said: "Many of my family members have lived long lives. My sister Dora reached the grand old age of 104, so I hope to match and even exceed this fantastic age to become the oldest living person in my family.
"I had a fantastic day seeing all my friends and family and was extremely pleased to receive my card from the Queen wishing me a happy birthday, as well as the added surprise of a letter from Prince Harry.
"I would like to thank all the staff and residents at Dorset House, as well as my loved ones, for making my big day one to remember."
