A MAN has suffered "potentially life-changing injuries" following a serious assault in Bournemouth.

The incident took place in Charminster Road near to the Golden Supermarket in the early hours of this morning.

It was reported to police by a third party around 5.50am, with the victim having left the scene.

It was later reported that the victim, a 43-year-old man of an unknown address, had been admitted to hospital with serious neck and head injuries.

A 44-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and is assisting officers with enquiries.

Detective Inspector Wayne Seymour, of Bournemouth CID, said: “This victim has suffered very serious, potentially life-changing injuries.

“Our enquiries into this incident are continuing and I am keen to here from any witnesses who may have seen this assault in the early hours of this morning in the Charminster Road area.”
