AN 80-year-old man died after falling out of his hotel bed while on a religious retreat in Bournemouth.

Harvey Leslie Rich was staying at the Queen’s Hotel in East Cliff when on Wednesday, April 12, he fell out of bed and hit his head on the bedside cabinet.

During the opening of his inquest at Bournemouth Coroner’s Court yesterday it was heard that Mr Rich initially appeared okay, but two days later his condition worsened and he died.

The inquest heard that on Friday, April 14 Mr Rich, who lived in Streatham in London, began vomiting and was rushed to Poole Hospital where he later died that day.

A post mortem carried out following his death gave an initial cause of death as a subdural haemorrhage.

The inquest was adjourned until 11.30am on Friday, May 19.
