KRZYSZTOF Kasprzak will today hope to progress to Grand Prix qualifying via the Polish Golden Helmet final (4.30pm BST).

The event had been due to take place on Good Friday but was postponed due to inclement weather. Despite this, Kasprzak was unable to get a flight home to race in Pirates’ SGB Premiership double-header against Somerset.

Former world number two Kasprzak, who won a Golden Helmet semi-final at Rawicz, is set to line up against a quality field at Zielona Gora including Maciej Janowski, Patryk Dudek, Piotr Pawlicki and Przemek Pawlicki.

Five riders will earn spots in GP qualifying with the Polish Motor Union handing out an additional wild card.

Six riders are set to progress to Speedway European Championship qualifying but Kasprzak has already booked his spot in the competition proper by virtue of finishing third last year.

Hans Andersen and Nicolai Klindt are due to race at Slangerup tomorrow as Denmark determines its representatives for GP and SEC qualifying duty.
