TWO mums have teamed up to put on a baby show for expectant women and dads-to-be.

The first Dorset Bump to Baby Show will take place on Saturday July 1, at the Riviera Hotel, Bournemouth, offering a host of advice, workshops and guest speakers.

The organisers are Zoe Keeping, who owns Rock the Bump, which makes pregnant belly casts; and Claire Cannie, owner of Light Touch Massage Therapy.

Mum-of-three Zoe, from Bournemouth, said they had been struck by the lack of a show for expectant couples.

“There hasn’t been one for a good couple of years in the Dorset area, so we joined forces and decided to set one up ourselves,” she said.

“We were looking to provide something a little bit different.

“We definitely wanted it to be a day where mums and dads could come and spend the whole day there and do workshops. There would be pregnancy exercise sessions that they could join if they wanted to and walk around the business tables or sit and listen to speakers.

“We’re hoping it will be informative and interactive.”

There will be around 40 local businesses, including maternity and newborn photography, keepsake artists, antenatal education providers, doulas, pre- and postnatal therapists and retailers.

The charity Spring, which helps families affected by the loss of a baby, will receive up to £1 from the sale of teach ticket.

The guest speakers will be midwife and blogger Clemmie Hooper, author of How to Grow a Baby; Mark Harris, midwife and creator of Birthing 4 Blokes and author of Men, Love & Birth; and Dorset vloggers Katy and Anna from Hey Mummy TV.

Workshops will cover the fourth trimester, “babywearing”, pregnancy yoga, baby massage, aromatherapy, pilates and pre- and postnatal exercise.

Claire said: “What we’re looking for is not telling people which way they should go but making sure everybody has access to the right information so they can have the best birth possible and make sure it’s a really positive experience.”

Zoe said it was important that dads felt welcome at the event.

“Often dads are left by the wayside. We’re really keen to make this an event for couples to come to together so they can come away with information and have a really fun, relaxed day where they get some good information,” she said.

Tickets are £12.50 including the workshops for the show and workshops, or £15.50 for an adult and guest. General admission to the show only is £3, with 50p going to Spring.
