A WORKER airlifted to hospital following an industrial accident in Hamworthy remains in a serious condition.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a joint investigation into the accident alongside Dorset Police.

Emergency services were called to the yard at the Dawkins Road Industrial Estate on Tuesday lunchtime.

A 33-year-old man, who sustained chest and head injuries, was treated at the scene, then taken by ambulance to nearby Turlin Moor Recreation Ground where he was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital.

Yesterday, the yard gates remained locked and on-one appeared to be working at the site.

A spokesman for South Western Ambulance Service confirmed: "We received a call at 12.20pm to an address on Dawkins road, Hamworthy, Poole.

"The patient was treated by paramedics for suspected chest and head injuries and taken for further treatment by the air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital."
