FIREFIGHTERS were called to save a pet pooch trapped in iron railings on Easter Sunday.
Three-year-old rescue Chorkie Hugo was freed from iron gates by Christchurch firefighters after he chased a cat and got himself stuck at his Southbourne home.
He was not injured during his ordeal.
Owner Kerriann Godwin said she found him stuck in the gate, adding: “There was a very smug looking ginger cat sitting nearby. I assume he was chasing the cat and got himself stuck. I was a little bit freaked out at the time.
“He was just firmly stuck,” Ms Godwin said.
“At the time I had images of being in the rain looking after him for a couple of hours but by the time the firefighters arrived I knew he was going to be alright.”
