FUN-LOVING teams are needed to take part in the gruelling Ferndown Pram Race.

The race involves a lap of the King George V playing fields with participants required to tackle several physical and mental challenges along the way.

Fancy dress is essential, as is a pram, and teams must comprise of four pushers and a baby.

The event will form part of the Ferndown Fete on the Field on Saturday June 24 and will raise money for the John Thornton Young Achievers Foundation.

The foundation was established in 2008 in memory of John Thornton, a young Royal Marines Officer from Ferndown who was tragically killed, at the age of 22, whilst serving in Afghanistan.

It supports young people from a number of youth organisations, providing them with scholarships and bursaries to give them access to opportunities that they wouldn’t otherwise have had.

So far almost half-a-million pounds has been awarded.

Anyone who wishes to take part should contact pramrace@ferndownfotf.org to register your interest or call Pete on 07792 121645 for more details.
