A FORMER hotel in Boscombe is to be converted into flats.

Parker Homes submitted an application to convert the former Woodlands Hotel at 28 Percy Road into six one, two and three bedroom flats.

An Arts and Crafts property, built in the early 1900s, the hotel was redesignated for residential use in October 2015 after an appeal to the planning inspector, the council having refused permission on the grounds the hotel might still be viable.

The inspector said: "I am of the view that the Woodlands Hotel is no longer viable and has no reasonable prospect of continuing.

"Its loss would therefore not have a significant impact on the tourism function of the area."

Although they raised concerns about the size of some of the proposed flats, Bournemouth council planning officers granted permission for the development using delegated powers. No objections were submitted.
