I READ in the Monday, April 10, edition of the Echo that yet another coffee shop could be opening in Poole in a building that would have been ideal for a department store, which is much more needed.

We are inundated with these premises in Poole now and indeed in that area alone there are at least six.

Where are the proper shops we used to have in Poole that everyone enjoyed?

Other towns manage to have them and they do well too. Bring them back before Poole loses even more of the originality that brought tourists to our town.

Now all they see is loads of café/restaurants, charity shops, betting shops and estate agents, and a sorry Dolphin Centre which has so many empty shops, so demoralising for our town.

What is the town management doing for goodness sake?

Wake up and smell the coffee (pardon the pun, but there is loads of coffee to smell).

Bring this town back to its former glory as a place that was indeed known as a ‘beautiful place’.

More to the point and most emphatically bring back our toilets and with all these cafés etc we badly need somewhere to ‘empty out’.

Failure to do so could see people arriving at the council offices en masse to use the facilities there, as obviously these offices offer public services, and even they have to go at some point.

We have been to other local towns lately, Dorchester, Yeovil, Lymington, Christchurch, Highcliffe, and all have public toilets. Why not in Poole?
