A DECISION will be made on Christchurch Emporium at a meeting of next month's planning committee.

The shopping centre is still waiting for a ruling on their application for change of use at the former Mostyn's factory in Bridge Street.

The proposal was originally submitted two years ago, but has experienced several delays along the way.

Last month, the council said they hoped to make a decision within a couple of weeks.

But now, due to "increased level of interest" it will go to committee.

Jane Lynch, development management manager, Christchurch and East Dorset Councils said "We continue to work with the Christchurch Emporium, but due to an increased level of interest it seems likely that this application will be included on the agenda of the planning control committee on May 25.

"We feel it’s important that members have the opportunity to consider this application in a public meeting due to the nature of the considerations.’’

In January, the council claimed they were still waiting for outstanding information, but hoped to make a decision "in early 2017".

Previously they have recommended the proposal for the old Mostyn's factory in Bridge Street should not get planning permission, pending further information.
