IT’S a skill more often associated with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo but a Bournemouth schoolboy has been raising money through “Rabonas.”

Six-year-old Harry Hart has been learning the skill, where the kicking leg is wrapped around the standing leg, to raise money for a major fundraising appeal for the Steve Bernard Foundation.

He completed 30 Rabonas in 30 days – following the theme of the Foundation’s 30 for 30 appeal.

And the Epiphany School pupil was thrilled to be joined by AFC Bournemouth star Junior Stanislas on the final day of the challenge.

Supported by his parents, Carla and Chris, Harry raised a staggering £1,153.75 through sponsorship from friends and family. He carried out the challenge at home and at AFC Bournemouth’s Academy, where he plays football.

Steve Bernard was a talented footballer and former Bournemouth School pupil who died in a car crash in 2005 at the age of just 18. A foundation was set up in his memory and this year, to mark what would have been his 30th birthday, fundraisers are being encouraged to carry out challenges over 30 days.

Recent participants include six-year-old Harry Percival, who raised £197 by performing 30 golf chips over 30 days and Dave McWilliam is taking part in 30 different sports in 30 days, ending with a football match.

Steve Bernard’s dad Tony has recently completed a 30-day beer challenge, which was launched by sports presenter Jeff Stelling and ended when Matt Le Tissier joined Tony for the last day.

Tony said: “I think both of these young gentlemen have done an amazing job for us and for Stevie. We are very proud of their achievements.”
