A BOURNEMOUTH leisure centre has been recognised as one of the best in the UK for the fourth year running.

Stokewood Leisure Centre was praised for its customer service by inspectors from Sport England's Quest quality scheme, and awarded an 'Excellent' rating alongside 102 other centres UK-wide.

The centre, run by BH Live and Bournemouth council, also scored well with Quest's 'mystery customer', and the scheme's operations director Caroline Constantine said: “This is no mean feat. It is very rare that I see ‘Excellent’ in the mystery visit and nearly every module. A huge well done to the team at Stokewood."

Centre manager John Davies said: "I am thrilled with the feedback we have received from Quest.

"Together with support from our partners and customers, we will continue to build upon what has been achieved here so far to encourage more people from our community into physical activity."

The council is currently investing £1million to improve the public health and wellbeing facilities at Stokewood. The work is scheduled to be completed later this year.
