MOTORISTS are facing major delays due a burst water main near Bournemouth Airport.

Emergency roadworks are being carried out on the A347 New Road at Ensbury Bridge.

There are long delays this morning.

Travel Dorset is warning drivers to avoid the area or allow extra time for their journey.

A spokesman for Bournemouth Water said: "We can confirm that there has been a burst pipe on the A347 New Road at Ensbury Bridge.

"The leak has been isolated and there has been no disruption to water services in the area as a result of the burst.

"A temporary traffic light system has been put into place to allow our engineers to carry out the repair.

"We expect the road to open again as normal by the end of tomorrow (Tuesday).

"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused while we carry out these repairs."
