BOURNEMOUTH’S town centre rector has expressed his solidarity with its Muslim and Jewish congregations in the wake of the London terror attack.

The Rev Ian Terry, of St Peter’s Church, has been involved in working together with Bournemouth’s other faith groups.

In a message to Majid Yasin, the imam at Bournemouth Islamic Centre, Dr Terry said all faiths would be praying for those who died or were injured and for Bournemouth’s MPs, Tobias Ellwood and Conor Burns.

He wrote: “On this day when peace-loving people all over the UK, and, indeed, the world, are reacting in horror against yesterday's atrocities in Westminster, we as Christians know that we are in solidarity with our friends from the Bournemouth Islamic Centre, as well as our Bournemouth Synagogue congregations, in expressing our shock and deep sadness at yesterday's attack and our renewed determination to work together for peace and the common good.

“We pray, in our different ways, for all who died and were injured at Westminster yesterday, and for our MPs, Conor and Tobias, and for the safety and security of the Palace of Westminster.”
