THERE is still time to light up the night for Diverse Abilities.

The Dorset Neon Run, in Poole Park, will be taking place on Saturday, April 8. You can run, dance or walk around the 5k route. Participants will be provided with glow sticks, bracelets and neon paint to help light up the night and glow as they go.

The event is raising funds for Diverse Abilities, the only charity that supports children and adults with disabilities in Dorset.

By signing up and taking part you are supporting hundreds of local people, just like Victoria who has been visiting the charity’s respite home, Lily’s Place, since she was 11. Victoria, now 14, requires constant care from her parents and cannot do many things other teenagers can. Lily’s Place offers much needed respite for Victoria and her parents, including day care and overnight stays, which allows Victoria’s parents time to rest and relax while she enjoys the experiences that the state of the art facility can provide.

Ashley Weedon, events manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “We are extremely excited for our first ever Dorset Neon Run taking place in Poole Park. It is going to be a fantastic event and we hope many local people take part and help us to light up the lives of children and adults living with disabilities in Dorset.”

The Dorset Neon Run is open to anyone over the age of 12 and participants will also receive a branded event t-shirt with their neon bling.

Local radio station Hot 102.8 will provide sizzling sounds for runners as they register in the event tent and there will be a warm up from Poole clubbercise instructor, Olivia Storey.

Registration fee is £20, which can fund one child’s place at the charity youth club. To take part or volunteer at the event, go to www.dorsetneonrun.com.
