A GROUP of young producers called EPIC will be taking over parts of the Lighthouse Theatre for a mini-festival called Level Up next week.

The event, created for and by 14-19 year olds, will take place in the new Sherling Studio, the cinema and foyer spaces.

Commenting on the festival's theme of 'What did you want to be when you grew up?' young producer Hannah, 17, of Lytchett Minster School said: "We're all at a point when we are wondering what to do next with our lives – and we thought it would be fun to think back to what we wanted to be when we were younger."

Festivalgoers will be able to play through the generations with Cyber Jam’s collection of games, ranging from retro consoles to VR, while the Sherling Studio will host exciting new live music showcases.

Artist Kevin Scully will be creating a live mural in the foyer and there will be an exclusive screening of the classic Tom Hanks movie Big.

Meanwhile, 17-year-old Jeanne, of The Purbeck School, said: "Big is a powerful tale about growing up and the value of childhood. We’re screening this film to remind our generation and others about how we need to make the most of our childhood before it’s completely gone."

The festival is scheduled for April 1, between 2-7pm.
