TRAFFIC enforcement officers will be stationed at the Upton bypass throughout this week to prevent any possible injuries to road workers.

There is a temporary 30mph speed limit on the A35 eastbound - which has been reduced to one lane in each direction while the roadworks are carried out - between the Baker's Arms Roundabout and the junction for Upton Country Park - and on the A35 westbound - from the Upton Country Park slip road until after the roadworks area.

Mark Armstrong, road safety manager for Dorset Police, said: “Our safety camera team will be enforcing the temporary speed restriction on the A35 Upton bypass as a preventative measure.

"Whilst we haven’t seen any accidents involved highway workers, we have received many comments from members of the public about drivers travelling excessively above the speed limit.

"It is important we protect the health and safety of those working on the dual carriageway.”

Dorset Road Safety Partnership have confirmed they too will be on the road assisting police officers.
