DESPITE millions of years of evolution, humans apparently still don’t know how to correctly open a banana.

That’s according to a series of videos online attempting to educate us mere Homo sapiens that the ‘monkey method’ is in fact the most efficient way of consuming Britain’s favourite fruit.

While most children are taught to lever open the banana using the protruding stem at what many would consider the ‘top’ of the banana, our distant relatives have a different technique.

The primate approach has the dual advantage of simultaneously removing that nasty little black bit usually encountered toward the end of the fruit if you’re using the human approach.

Even a cursory Google search of ‘how to open a banana’ supports the monkey method, which runs contrary to how most children are taught to go about it.
