A NEW microbrewery due to open in Bournemouth that has been plagued by delays from complicated renovation works has announced its new opening date.

Brewhouse and Kitchen will open at the Triangle at the listed former Eldridge Pope inn site on April 3, owners have confirmed.

Initially the company had said the food-serving business - which has two other sites nearby at Poole and Southbourne - would be open last summer.

The date was then extended to Christmas and then January as a result of ongoing issues with building works and a complicated party wall agreement involving 16 people.

John Gleeson, operations manager, told the Daily Echo: “We started this seven-figure renovation project over two years ago and it has been a complicated, yet interesting journey, fraught with planning issues from the outset.

"However our commitment and excitement to be opening Brewhouse and Kitchen in the heart of Bournemouth has never waned.

"Guests who enjoy what Brewhouse and Kitchen has to offer will be further treated to a fantastic large south facing garden, complete with beach huts to dine, drink and just enjoy.

"With a number of other local operators opening near us, eg Southbourne Ales, this is an extremely exciting time of regeneration for the Poole Hill area and will quickly make it a destination spot for great food and beer."

Under the plans for the renovated building - which used to house The Branksome - there will be Victorian-style lanterns across the front of the building and copper lettering will be used to spell out Brewhouse and Kitchen across the front of the ground floor.

As well as a bar and restaurant there will be copper beer fonts, stripped wood decor and "the biggest beer garden in Bournemouth town centre", according to the plans which have also involved the development of a three-storey extension at the rear.
