IT was a flippin' good day when residents, chefs and businesses got together for a special Pancake Day race.

Hosted by the Christchurch Food Festival, the event was held at the bowling green close to the King's Arms Hotel (TUES).

Proceeds from the morning were donated to the festival's charity - the Christchurch Food Festival Education Trust.

There were thirteen teams of four entered to take part as well as four chefs.

This year, the accountancy firm Filer Knapper won the team's event, while Pavel Siusta of the Captain's Club Hotel and Spa won in the chefs' category.

Organiser Allan Wood said it was a "very enjoyable" morning.

"It went really well," he said. "The weather was fantastic. We always seem to have lovely sunshine whenever we hold this event. Everyone really gets into the spirit of it."

In Wimborne, the Minster hosted the 20th annual race of flipping pancakes.

The event was revived in 1998 after an absence of 16 years.

Children and adults were able to take part, with the first heat run in with the church's bells.
