A flood alert has been issued for Christchurch Harbour this morning.

The alert is in force from 9.30am for two hours following high tide. 

It was issued by the Environment Agency just after 7.30am on Monday morning. 

Flood alerts are issued when flooding is possible and members of the public should be prepared. 

The forecast wind direction is South westerly.

Condor Ferries have cancelled a number of sailings today due to strong winds and high waves. 

A statement on their website says: "Current forecasts are predicting an unsettled area of inclement weather passing over the English Channel on Sunday evening and Monday.

"We have been monitoring this closely, and wave heights are predicted to reach 4.6 metres and wind gusts in excess of 40 knots. These periods are outside of our legal operating limits."

The following services have been cancelled: 12pm Poole to Guernsey, 3.30pm Guernsey to Jersey, 5.30pm Jersey to Guernsey and the 7.10pm from Guernsey to Poole.
